Sindhupalchok—The death toll in the Sindhupalchok landslide reached 9, informed local police. According to DSP Prakash Sapkota 22 other persons are missing in the landslide.
Deceased have been identified as Bhaktimaya Shrestha, Junu BK, Suk Lal BK, Sandesh BK, Sarkini Newar, Dhan Lal Newar, Hiramaya Newar, Taksi Sherpa, and Gyanimaya Pradahan. It is still unclear that most of them are from the same family or not. The last night incessant rainfall triggered a landslide that swept away the settlement of Nagpuje, Bhirkharka, and Newar Tol of Bahrabise Municipality-7. According to information, the landslide buried 10 houses of Bhirkharka village and seven of Nagpuje village.
The BK Tol of Bhirkharka, Newar Tol, and Tamang Tol submerged in the mud. Security personnel and local people are busy and rescue operations at the site of the landslide that came from the Ghumthang hills. Earlier this year, Sindhupalchok district faced two other big landslides with dozen of lives and property loss.
