Inter-Rehabilitation Center Table Tennis Tournament concludes in Pokhara

Pokhara–In celebration of World Table Tennis Day 2025, Naulo Ghumti Nepal (NGN) successfully organized the District-Level Inter-Rehabilitation Center Table Tennis Tournament in Pokhara. The tournament was held under NGN’s ongoing “Table Tennis for New Life” project.

This year’s theme, “Table Tennis for Diversity and Inclusion,” aimed to promote recovery, long-term sustainability, and positive transformation among individuals undergoing drug rehabilitation. The tournament was held last Monday in Pokhara, bringing together both male and female participants currently receiving treatment at various rehabilitation centers across the district.

Organized in collaboration with the Gandaki Province Table Tennis Association and the Kaski District Table Tennis Association, and financially supported by the International Table Tennis Foundation (ITTF), the event saw the participation of 40 players from 10 different rehabilitation centers. The tournament was a powerful example of how sports can foster healing, self-confidence, and social inclusion.

The event was honored by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Sun Bahadur Lama (Head of the Kaski District Sports Development Committee), Uttam Joshi (President of Gandaki Province Table Tennis Association), Surendra Thapa Magar (President of Naulo Ghumti Nepal), Anesh Gurung (Executive Director), and Gautam Raj Lama (President of Kaski District Table Tennis Association). All speakers emphasized the transformative power of sports in fostering recovery, empowerment, and community reintegration. Om Krishna Gurung, Program Coordinator of the Counseling, Treatment, and Rehabilitation Center at Naulo Ghumti, Nepal, coordinated and hosted the tournament.

The competition featured three categories:

            •           Men’s Singles

            •           1st Place: Sushant

            •           2nd Place: Rajat

            •           3rd Place: Rupak and Rohan

            •           Men’s Doubles

            •           1st Place: Anjan and Pradeep

            •           2nd Place: Ankit and Kamal

            •           3rd Place (shared): Roshan & Ayush, and Nishan & Milan

            •           Women’s Singles

            •           1st Place: Sajana

            •           2nd Place: Aisha

            •           3rd Place (shared): Sunita and Prinsa
