By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Dhorpatan—The Village Tourism Forum Gandaki has concluded a four-day long tourism restoration and rural tourism promotion visit on December 29.
Various homestay villages from Baglung, Parvat and Kaski were covered under the program that was promoted by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and assisted by Pokhara Tourism Council (PTC). According to VTOF Gandaki Chairman Nabaraj Adhikari, the program aimed to reinstate the tourism and homestay businesses that were hard-hit by Covid- 19 pandemic.
A group of 18-member including tourism entrepreneurs, officials from NTB and journalists visited the villages and took part in the interactions held at Shiva Dhuri, Righa, Dhorpatan and Taman Khola of Baglung, Lapsibot and Bhuka Deurali of Parvat and Hemjakot of Kaski district. Earlier, Gandaki Province Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Minister Bikash Lamsal inaugurated the visit program at the banks of Phewa Lake in Lakeside, Kaski.
NTB Gandaki Chief Kashiraj Bhandari expressed his commitment that his organization is ready to support the budget to Bihunkot village to build a view tower there, in a program held at Shivadhuri Homestay. PTC Chairman Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai said there was no alternative to continuing the tourism and homestay businesses in spite of Covid- 19 pandemic. VTOF Gandaki Vice Chairman and visit-team coordinator Surya Nath Pahari said that the program was concluded successfully, spreading the messages of homestay re-opening amid Covid- 19.
PTC former Chairman Kedar Nath Sharma, TAAN WRA Pokhara Chairman Sushil Raj Paudel, Gandaki Province assembly member Lalitkala Gurung, Galkot Municipality deputy mayor Renuka Kacha Magar including others addressed the programs organized in the different homestay villages. VTOF Gandaki advisor Nabaraj Pahari, NMA Annapurna Chairman Shes Kanta Sharma, EAGA Pokhara former Chairman Krishna Kumar Shrestha also were the members of the visiting group. Likewise, NMA Annapurna former Chairman Krishna Prasad Kafle, NAA Chairman Krishna Bhandari, sportsman Dharamsingh Lammichhane also were the participants of the group.
