Bodies of Nuwakot chopper crash airlifted to Kathmandu

Pokhara—All the six dead bodies of Altitude Air helicopter crash have been brought to Kathmandu this morning. According to Tribhuvan International Airport General Manager Rajkumar Chhetri, four helicopters were used to fetch the bodies. The helicopter with seven persons on board had taken off from Samagaun of Gorkha and crashed at dense forest in Mailungpakha of Meghang Rural Municipality- 1, on Saturday morning.

Japanese citizen Romi Komatsu and Nepali citizens- Dilli Bahadur Gurung of Ramechhap, Hira Sherpa of Dolakha, Chhobang Nurbu and Sunil Tamang of Gorkha; pilot Nischal KC suffered spot death in the crash. As the incident site is in remote area, security personnel and local people fetched the bodies to Bidur, Nuwakot base Trishuli Hospital last night. Then the bodies were airlifted to Kathmandu this morning. The bodies will likely be handed over to the relatives today.

The lone survivor of accident Aani Dolma Diki is getting treatment in Kathmandu base Mediciti Hospital. She was rescued from incident site and airlifted to Kathmandu the day before. She had informed about the incident by making a phone call from accident site. Then the rescuers found the accident location by  her phone signal.Picture courtesy: Sukaram Tamang
