Begnas boat capsize death toll reaches 8, all six missing recovered dead

Pokhara—All the missing six persons in Begnas boat capsize have been found dead, informed District Police Office Kaski Spokesperson DSP Rabindraman Gurung. Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepali Army personnel and local fishermen recovered the bodies from the deep lake.

Deceased are Rabi Khanal, 32 of Nawalpur, his two sons- Shankar, 8, and Shiva, 8, Ranjit Gaire, 4 of Tanahun, Prachin Paudel, 5, of Begans Kaski and Manish Bajgain, 18 of Pokhara New Buspark. The search missing persons was resumed this morning. Now the death toll in that boat capsize reached 8.

Two persons- Krishna Kumari Bajgain, 50 of Pokhara New Buspark and Januka Gaire, 28, of Bhimad- 4, Tanahun had died in hospital after being rescued on Saturday. Two more persons- Rabi’s wife Sapana Khanal and Prachin’s mother Nisha Paudel, 28 also were rescued right after the accident. They have  already been discharged from the hospital.

A total of 10 persons without having life jackets were travelling in a boat when it submerged in the lake water. They were on their way to in-law house to have Dar, a special food which is eaten on the occasion of Teej Festival. The newly found 6 bodies have been kept in Western Regional Hospital Pokhara. The cause of incident is yet to be ascertained however it has been believed that the boat went disbanded when children played each other and with water.
