By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara—Supreme Court of Nepal invalidated the reappointment of 7 ministers who refused to remain in their mother part CPN-MC and their MP post was scraped, following the nullification of unity between CPN-UML and CPN-MC.

Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli had repeated them in the same portfolio following his reappointment as PM as per article 76- 3 of Nepal’s constitution. Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal, Industry Minister Lekhraj Bhatta, Energy Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Urban Development Minister Prabhu Shah, Drinking Water Minister Mani Thapa, Labor Minister Gauri Shankar Chaudhary and Sports Minister Dawa Lama are no more in the Oli cabinet.

The Supreme Court verdict of March 7, 2021, had quashed the CPN-UML and CPN-MC unification. Then, those CPN-MC leaders were refused to retain their old party instead joined the ruling CPN-UML. The single bench of Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana scraped their reappointment, citing that article 78 of Nepal’s Constitution allows the person to become a minister only one time for six months even though he or she is not a member of federal parliament.
