Baibhav Paudel is a newly elected chairman of Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs’ Forum (NYEF) Pokhara. He is also a managing director of Byanjan Restaurant under Barahai Hospitality Group. Moreover Mr Paudel concerns the Bagaincha Wellness Resort and the Car Spa Pokhara. We have had a short chitchat with Paudel about his future plans as a head of young entrepreneurs. Excerpts:
What are you thinking about your future plans, do you have any chart?
I am thinking of forming a women entrepreneurs’ wing of our organization. It’s my one of the dream plans. Establishing such sister wing is definitely a challenging part but I will make it a success. Furthermore, leadership and public speaking based training are also in my list. Basically, NYEF focuses on grooming the businesses and entrepreneurship.
Could you please remind us some contributions that NYEF carried out for the society?
Of course there is a long list of such contribution. We have conducted Lakhapati Yojana that provides loan to the youths who are economically short but want to have a business. Similarly, we formulated Made in Nepal concept that promoted Nepal made goods from the pavilion of then Pokhara Industrial Trade Fair. Likewise, stationary items and solar system support to the schools, reconstruction of a school building in a earthquake hit area and the logistic supports to the quake victims also are our social contributions.
What are the problems that entrepreneurs and business sector are facing at the moment?
The scarcity of skilled manpower is a major problem that we are facing. As we have to face shortage of skilled workers, there automatically comes the service of compromise that also hinders the business. The part of stable government and the end of load-shedding are positive phenomenon but some bad news in some media are hampering our businesses to some extent.
What do you expect from the government to flourish the businesses?
The part of connectivity and well-managed roads are some basics. Infrastructure development as well as the timely completion of Pokhara Regional International Airport also are essential aspects. Similarly, the government should go hand in hand with the private sector to make Visit Nepal Year 2020 a grand success. Most importantly, we should do something in our own instead of relying on the government.
At last, how come many of you an entrepreneur as most of yours businesses are based on family property?
It might not be wrong to say so but doing something in our own land is better than instead of going to overseas for employment. Besides doing businesses relying on family property, many of us also have formed news businesses with our new concept and earnings.
