New tourist rescue act issued

Pokhara—The government has issued a new tourist rescue act on Saturday. The new act will curb the fake rescue and swindling of money from insurance companies. At the same time the act has made the mandatory involvement of tourist police in rescue task. Similarly, Nepal based agent of foreign company will not be allowed in rescue and treatment process too.

Previously, foreign companies and their agents also used to be involved in rescue task but unlike that the new act has made the provision that the respective Nepali companies themselves should carry out rescue task when required. Earlier, some of the entrepreneurs have carried out forge rescue to take more money from insurance companies and commission from hospitals.

As per the new act, the agency should inform about the rescue task to the tourism department including the used vehicle, invested cost, tourist admitted hospital and the details of the tourist. Likewise, the helicopter company which involves in rescue work should submit the detail of rescue flight within the 15 days of tourist season ending.
