Former home minister Madhav Ghimire, other two missing in Trishuli in jeep accident

Onlookers gather in jeep accident site. Picture:—Pokhara: Former Home Minister Madhav Prasad Ghimire and other two persons went missing in Trishuli River as a jeep they were travelling plunged into that river on Sunday.

According to Binod Prakash Singh, Chief District Officer of Chitwan, Ghimier’s mother Chaitanya Kumari Ghimire 80, and other two persons were killed in the accident. Police Hawaldar Driver Bishnu Rai was wounded during the tragedy.

The private vehicle with number plate Ba 9 Cha 1531 veered off the road at Ghopte Bhier in Darhe Chowk of Chitwan District at around 4 PM local time. According to police, the dead bodies of police sub inspector from Armed Police Force Ram Chandra Karki and Madhav’s nephew Narayan Kafle have been recovered from the river.

Chitwan district SP Basanta Kunwar informed that former’s home ministers brothers Prakash and Mohan also are missing in the river. It has been said that the Ghimire family was returning back from Kagbeni of Mustang after performing Sorha Sradha ritual. In preliminary report, former minister Ghimire himself was driving the vehicle that also went missing. He was the home minister during the time of Khila Raj Regmi led council of Ministers.
