Pokhara—The government has appointed journalist Balkrishna Basnet as a Chairman of Nepal Press Council the day before. The meeting of the Council of Ministers decided to appoint Basnet as the Chairman of NPC.
Basnet who had been worked in Kantipur Daily for years was an editor of khulanepal.com in recent days. Based hails from Nepal’s Dolakha district and was a candidate of general secretary in recently held FNJ election where he lost the battle.
Before Basnet, Kishor Shrestha and Gopal Budhathoki were the action Chairmen of NPC. Basnet who is also a lawyer had already worked as FNJ central committee member and the board member of Nepal Television.
