Pokhara—The 10th Pokhara Festival is to be held from January 14 to 26 in Amarsingh Sports Ground in Pokhara. Addressing a press meet host United Club Pokhara (UCP) Chairman Lal Kaji Gurung informed that the club has formed 40 different sub-committees to make the festival a grand success.
According to Gurung, the festival has been organizing every year with a motto of establishing a zoo in Lekhnath area of Pokhara. The club has invested 20 percent of its income for zoo and some 5.5 million rupees have already been supported to respective party. The zoo is being developed in ward number 30, 31 and 32 of Pokhara Metropolitan City.
According to publicity committee coordinator Shanta Bahadur Thapa, some 250 business stalls would be installed in the Pokhara Festival. The stalls concern agriculture, tourism promotion, handicrafts, garments, IT, culture and music. The festival would focus on the marketing of goods and services as well as creation of employments.
Seti River clean up drive, CCTV camera and solar light installation, account formation for disaster victim, formation of scholarship funds for 12 community schools of Kaski and organization of free health camps are some of the key social works carried out by UCP.
