High-profile visits from neighboring countries excite Nepalese tourism entrepreneurs

Pokhara—Tourism entrepreneurs from Nepal are excited due to high-profile visits that happened one after another in this beautiful Himalayan nation in recent years.

In this context, President of Bangladesh Mohammad Abdul Hamid has just wrapped up his four day Nepal visit today. Tourism entrepreneurs from Pokhara are hopeful that the visit would be helpful in promoting the tourism of Nepal due that visit. Entrepreneurs believe that the high profile visit would definitely raise the number of tourists from Bangladesh to Nepal. President Hamid visited Pokhara, took boat ride in Phewa Lake and reached Rupakot Resort the day before.  

Similarly, Chinese President Xi Jinping had visited Nepal in October, 2019. People in Nepal believe that that high level visit that happened after 24 years from China to Nepal would boost the tourism in Nepal. More than 150 million Chinese tourists visit different countries every year and the tourism of Nepal would be flourished if some of them come to Nepal. So, Nepal hopes more tourists from China following the Xi’s visit.

Likewise, Nepal had welcomed the caravans of Indian tourists to Muktinath Temple of Nepal’s Mustang district following the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s latest visit to that temple on May of 2018. PM Modi had offered prayers in that iconic temple which is a popular shrine for both Hindus and Buddhists.   

As per the data given by Nepal Tourism Board, 19,279 tourists from Bangladesh visited Nepal from January to October of 2019. This number is 9.6 percent less than the same time of last year. Similarly, 169,952 Indian tourists visited Nepal within the first 10 months of 2019. Likewise, 160,000 Chinese tourists visited Nepal in 2018.
