Singapore–US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un have arrived Singapore to take part in a historic summit.
The summit will take place on Tuesday on the resort island of Sentosa. President Trump hopes that the summit will be helpful in denuclearization of North Korea. He further expects that the meeting would be historic and world changing one.
CNN reports that the two leaders have had an extraordinary up-and-down relationship over the past 18 months, trading insults and threatening war before abruptly changing tack and moving towards a face-to-face meeting.
Mr Kim met Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong following his arrival in Singapore. He arrived in Singapore on Sunday afternoon on a plane loaned by China amid huge security precautions on the city-state island. Just a few hours after Mr Kim’s arrival, Mr Trump flew into Paya Lebar Air Base aboard Air Force One and later he was greeted by Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.
