Polls decide democracy or authoritarianism : PM Deuba

By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara—Nepali Congress Chairman and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba Wednesday said that the upcoming polls would decide whether the nation retains the democracy or chooses the authoritarianism.

Addressing a mass election rally organized in Amarsingh Chaur of Pokhara, Chairman Deuba appealed all the people not to think these polls only the general polls but take as a referendum. Chairman Deuba also accused recently formed leftist alliance of heading for autocratic regime in the name of communism in Nepal.

“Communists are trying to sabotage the democracy and republic in Nepal,” Deuba claimed. He further said that there won’t be attracted foreign investments and even Nepali investments if the nation is ruled by the communism. In communism, according to him, there won’t be the right of property and freedom. Deuba said, “Foreigner investors would only believe the Nepali Congress and its government.” He claimed that the rights to speaks and rights to write would be squashed if there would be communist rule. PM Deuba also claimed that only the Nepali Congress would bring the prosperity in Nepal.

Meanwhile, addressing the rally, Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel accused the CPN-UML and CPN-MC of working to take the nation to instability and chaos. He further added that the communism is being extinct all over the world; so, according to him, Nepal could not adopt such rule. He further added the left alliance would impose directly elected Prime Minister or President in Nepal to abduct all the rights of people. ‘Communists never give solutions but only crate problem,’ he added.

Nepali Congress leaders Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, Sashanka Koirala, Balkrishna Khand, NC candidates Kumar Khadka, Surya Bahadur KC and Jivan Pariyar including others also expressed their views in the mass meeting chaired by NC Kaski District acting chairman Sudeep Mohan Bhattarai.
