Nepali parapilots dominate Open International Paragliding competition

Pokhara—Nepali paragliding pilots dominated Open International & National Team Selection Paragliding competition concluded in Bhirkot Municipality- 5 Sworek of Syangja on Monday. The five day long competition was inaugurated on November 1.

Best tandem paragliding pilot Bishal Thapa won the gold medal in the competition. At the same time Prem Timilsina and Anish Thapa bagged silver and bronze medal respectively. Rishi Pode, Yubraj Sunuwar and Bimal Adhikari won gold, silver and bronze medal in overall male competition. In national group, Babu Adventure, Kumulch Club and Captain Club bagged gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.

In individual women category, Babi Sitang won the gold medal while Sabita Tamang and Malaysian Nadia Wafa bagged silver and bronze medal. In individual national women category, Babi, Sabita and Nikhita Sunuwar won gold, silver and bronze medal.

The competition also selected 21 Nepali players for Asian Game 2018- to be held in Indonesia. The competition was concluded by Nepal Sports Council member secretary Keshab Kumar Bista. The competition was organized by Babu Adventure Club and the District Coordination Committee Syangja, Nepal Paragliding and Hang Gliding Association and Nepal Air Sports Association also the organizers of that competition.

Club chairman Krishna Jung KC informed that 300 players from 25 countries took part in the competition. According to Babu Adventure director Sano Babu Sunuwar, the competition also was organized for the preparation of Paragliding World Cup 2020.
