National Cooperative Day marked in Pokhara

Pokhara—About 30,000 persons marched in the streets of Pokhara to celebrate 60th National Cooperative Day on Sunday. The rally was started from Chipledhunga and reached Pokhara City Hall where a mass meeting was organized.

Addressing a gathering in city hall, chief guest and National Cooperative Chairman Keshav Badal said that the contribution of cooperatives for the economic prosperity of Nepal was very important. Kaski CDO Hari Prasad Mainali, National Cooperative Association promoter Prabha Koirala, NEFSCUN promoter Bhim Gurung, Saving and Cooperative Association Kaski Chairman Sudip Dhakal and association vice chairman Haribhakta Paudel expressed their views during the program chaired by Cooperative Training and Division Office Pokhara Principal Badri Nath Adhikari.

Kahu Deurali Multipurpose Cooperative’s Dipak Prakash Acharya was felicitated as best managing promoter in the program. Chakra Devi cooperative’s Rajesh Paudel, Tal Nagari Agro Cooperative’s Chandika Baral, Prime Cooperative’s Niru Thapa and Pame Cooperative’s Surya Mohan Parajuli were recognized as best promoters. Division Office’s best staff Bishnu Devi Pokhrel also was felicitated during the event.

Dharmasthali’s coordinator Raju Prasad Subedi, member Laxmi Prasad Koirala and Yog Raj Paudel were given prizes as best account committee members. Karmashil’s Sangita Gautam Timilsina, Deego’s Sagun Gurung, Kundahar’s Rib Bahadur Thapa, Sayapatri’s Bishwo Raj Bastola and Janapriya’s Murari Baral were also given prizes as best chairmen.

Chatra Shakti, Nabin, Paropakar, Gupteshwor were recognized as best cooperatives. Bihani cooperative was chosen as best among the eight best cooperatives. Sayapatri, Pokhara Royal and Lakhan cooperatives became first, second and third respectively on rally category.
