Journalist Giri released on general date

Pokhara–District Court Kathmandu has ordered to release Pokhara based journalist Arjun Giri on general date, informed his friend Bijay Lamsal. Giri was arrested by District Police Office Kaski on behalf of Central Investigation Bureau Kathmandu on April 15.

Giri, who is the editor of Tandav Weekly and tandavnews.com, had reported a news report of financial fraud and was arrested in charge of cyber crime case registered by entrepreneur Bipendraraj Batas in CIB office.

Giri had published the news of fraud in his newspaper and news portal. As Giri was arrested, protest programs were launched across Nepal by Federation of Nepali Journalists, demanding the immediate release of Giri and dismissal of Electronic Transaction Act’s clause 47 and 48.
