At least 87 houses gutted in Kalikot fire

Kalikot–At least 47 house gutted as fire broke out in a village of Kalikot on Monday morning. Four persons injured as the fire caught the Neupane settlement of Khadagaun in Palata Rural Municipality- 1. According to rural municipality deputy chief Dana Neupane, Dip Neupane, 65, Lal Neupane, 65, Auli Neupane, 50 and Chaiti Neupane, 42 got wounded in the incident.

Dozens of  domestic animals also were killed in the blazes. According to information, the inferno began from the center of two houses of Nawin Neupane and Megi Neupane and destroyed whole the settlement. Most of the houses were roofed with straws. The fire began 2 am in the midnight and it was taken control in the wee hour. The loss of property is yet to be calculated.

Rural municipality spokesperson Manbahadur Bhandari informed that some 13 persons also got injured when they tried to control the fire. The incident sites falls some 7 hour walking distance from district headquarter Manma and a team of police has just reached to incident site from the District Police Office. Most of the village youths are in India for employment and only children, women and elderly people have been living in the village that also has been facing the scarcity of water.
