Resham Lal Chaudhary surrenders in Kailali District Court

Pokhara—Lawmaker from Rastriya Janata Party Resham Lal Chaudhary has surrendered in Kailali District Court this morning.

According to SP Binod Ghimire, Chaudhary is a key suspect of Tikapur massacre where a child and seven security personnel including SSP Laxman Neupane have been killed during a Tharuhat agitation on August 24, 2015.

Chaudhary was absconding since the incident and police had been searching him. Chaudhary became victorious against his rival with vast difference of votes in recently held federal election of Nepal. Chaudhary who was candidate of Kailali constituency number 1, got 34341 votes. His nearest rival CPN-UML candidate Garima Kumari Shah garnered 13604 votes while Nepali Congress candidate Ishwori Neupane got 11203 votes.

Chaudhary had registered a petition writ in Supreme Court demanding his certificate through his representative but the court refused his appeal. Election Commission had made clear that Chaudhary himself should come to court to get his certificate. Chaudhary surrendered in court at a time when the swearing in ceremony if federal house is going to be held on March 4.
