Pilot Rai killed in Goma Air cargo aircraft crash in Lukla

Pokhara—Pilot Paras Rai was killed and two other crew members were injured when a Goma Air 9N-AKY cargo aircraft crashed while landing at Tenzing-Hilary Airport in Lukla of Nepal’s Solukhmbu district at two PM today.

Rai took final breath during treatment in hospital. The aircraft broken into two parts and front part of the aircraft was damaged that caused difficult two rescue pilot Rai.

According to Solukuhmbu base police, the chopper that was sent from Kathmandu couldn’t land at Lukla Airport due to bad weather so the pilot was rushed to local health post.

The treatment of co-pilot Srijan Manandhar is undergoing and the air hostess Pragya Manandhar also couldn’t be sent to Kathmandu due to bad weather in Lukla. The aircraft met with an accident as it touched a tree while landing, informed District Police Office Solukhumbu Chief DSP Madhav Budathoki.
