Hundreds take part in Tour de Pokhara

Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: Hundreds of cyclists took part in Tour de Pokhara organized in Pokhara valley on Saturday.

The Cycle City Pokhara (CCP) organized event started from Lakeside and the participants paddled 28.3 Km distance to Beganas Lake in Lekhnath Municipality and returned back to Pokhara. According to event coordinator Niraj Thapa, the program was launched on the occasion of World Heart Day and was supported by Jayenti Memorial Trust.

The event is the replication of Tour de France started some 113 years before. As the Tour de France has been leaving positive messages all over the world, the Cycle City Pokhara also came up with such concept in the name of Tour de Pokhara from last year.

This time, the event was launched with a slogan’ let’s do cycling for health, environment and tourism’, in the bank of Phewa Lake. According to CCP President Prakash Bajracharya, the event was participated by world cycle traveler Pushkar Shah and the cyclists from the age of 7 to 86 years.

Promoted by Nepal Tourism Board, the event was also supported by Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City, Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lekhnath Municipality, Lekhnath Chamber of Commerce and Industry, District Cyclist Association, Kaski District Sports Development Committee, Nepal Cyclist Federation, Baba Foundation and District Development Committee including other organizations also supported the event.
