Annapurna summit day marked

Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: 66the Annapurna Summit Day marked on June 3 and 4 in Tangting village of Mid-Nepal.

In association of Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) Western Regional Association Pokhara, Nepal Tourism Board and Annapurna Conservation Area Project jointly organized this program with villagers.

Tangting is a touristy village in northeast of Pokhara. TAAN launched this program to remember the French men Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal who scaled the Annapurna I (8091m) in 1950 June 3, 3 year before the world’s highest peak Mt. Everest was scaled.

Annapurna is tenth highest peak among 14 above 8000 meters in the world. So, the TAAN members and entrepreneurs reached Tangting on June 3 to remember the victory of Frenchmen, said TAAN WRA president Ram Chandra Sharma. The tourism of Nepal begins as those mountaineers scaled the Annapurna.

During the Tangting event, guests were lodged in homestays that the villagers have been running for few years. Entrepreneurs took part in cultural program and participated in a formal program organized on Saturday in the village, informed event coordinator Bishow Raj Adhikari.

Similarly Chhiji Norbu Sherpa who scaled Annapurna four times was felicitated by Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) Annapurna Chapter in Pokhara on Friday. According to chapter president Jivn Raj Sapkota, NMA central president Aang Chhiring Sherpa felicitated Mr. Sherpa.
