Pokhara—A total of 10 teams are to take part in the 17the Aaha Rara Gold Cup Football Tournament 2075 that is going to be held from February 21 to March 2 in Pokhara Stadium.
Organizing a press meet, host Sahara Club Pokhara (SCP) revealed the name list of participating clubs on Tuesday. According to information, Manang Marshyangdi Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal APF Club, Nepal Police Club, Dharan Football Club, United Sikkim Football Club, Three Star Club, Sahara Club Pokhara, Dauphins Family Club Cameroon and Himalayan Sherpa Club are the participants of the tournament.
According to SCP Chairman Keshab Bahadur Thapa, winner team will bag Rs 801,000 and runner up Rs 401,000. And both the teams will get shield, medal and certificates. He further added that the number of teams has been slashed to 10 from 12 this time as per the limited time period provided by the Nepal’s football governing body ANFA.
At the same time tournament coordinator and SCP vice chairman Hari Ram Gurung informed that the best player of the series will get a scooter. Meanwhile, the best scorer will bag Rs 25,000. Similarly, a player who contributed for sports sector in 2074 in the best way will get a prize of best national football player including Rs 35,000. So, APF will take on host Sahara in the opening match.
According to SCP, the savings from the tournament will be invested for the well-being of Sahara Academy run by SCP. Rs 1 from each ticket of the tournament will go for the development of play ground. The tournament has been sponsored by the Himshree Foods.
Sahara UK chairman Kumar Gurung, Sahara Australia Chairman Rajman Thakali, SCP founding chairman Basanta Thakali, former chairman Bikram Thakali, Himshree Foods executive chairman Surya Bahadur KC, director Prakash KC were also present during the press meet.
