Deuba elected NC Chairman for the second time

Pokhara—Sher Bahadur Deuba has bee elected as a ruling Nepali Congress Chairman for the second time. Deuba who is also a Prime Minister of Nepal secured 2724 votes against his rival Shekhar Koirala who got 1817 votes in the 14th convention which is held in Kathmandu.

A total of 4574 votes were cast and 33 votes were invalidated. The polls entered in second round as no candidate garnered majority of votes in first round though Deuba garnered the highest number of votes. Defeated candidates Bimlendra Nidhi, Prakash Man Singh and Kalyan Gurung backed Deuba in the second round.
