Chinese defense minister Wei in Kathmandu

By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara– Chinese State Councillor and Defence Minister Wei Fenghe arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday. He landed at Tribhuvan International Airport a few minutes ago. Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa welcomed Mr. Wei at TIA.

This is the high-level meeting after the Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit on October 12 and 13 of 2019. As per the schedule, Wei first attends the meeting hosted by the Chinese embassy in Nepal. Then he will reach to Nepali Army Headquarter where he will receive the guard of owner, calling on Chief of the Nepal Army, General Purna Chandra Thapa. Then, He will discuss bilateral issues with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli before having the final visit with President Bidhya Devi Bhandari at Sheetal Niwas, confirmed Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday.

Giving a short comment, Mr Wei made clear that he has come to Nepal to back the bilateral understandings clinched in the past between two nations. He also said that the visit will be helpful in strengthening the mutual relationship between Nepal and China.
