Pokhara—The government has revealed the tourism village selection criterion to promote the new destinations in Nepal.
The village will be selected based on its natural, cultural, manmade, and mixed potentialities. The local and provincial governments will be given the responsibility to promote and develop the infrastructures in those villages.
The Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Ministry has prepared a modality to select the tourism villages. According to a ministry source, now the suggestions are being collected from the local level and stakeholders. The ministry deputy spokesperson Rajan Paudel also confirmed that the government is preparing to select the four types of tourism villages in Nepal.
According to the modality, the local and provincial governments should be committed to allocate budget at least for five years for the promotion and development of to be selected villages. The ministry also has wanted proposals from those villages. The proposal could be submitted respective District Coordination Committee office. The village should meet the criteria mentioned in the modality to be selected as a tourism village.
