Pokhara—At least six persons were killed and 17 other went missing after floods triggered by incessant rainfall swept away a small settlement in Nepal’s Achham district on Tuesday night. The floods hit Saini Bazaar of Ramaroshan Rural Municipality of that district and gutted 12 houses of the area.
According to District Police Office Achham information officer and Police Inspector Mr Ramesh Dutta Awasthi, the search and rescue operation is undergoing and six bodies have already been recovered. Ramaroshan Rural Municipality deputy chairperson Ms Sarswati Rawal said that the floods happened in Kailash stream that collapsed whole the settlement which situated in the banks of the stream.
Authorities said that this is the summer time in Nepal and many other Nepali lost their lives due to floods and landslides in different districts of the country. Few days ago, around three dozen people lost their lives in Sindhupalchok district that remains nearby Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital. The search operation is going on even in that district. Similarly, two persons were killed when landslide buried them in Nepal’s Bajhang district last night.
