Aaha Rara Gold Cup Football Tournament fixture out

By Rup Narayan Dhakal–Pokhara—Sahara Club Pokhara has made public the fixture of the 18th Aaha Rara Gold Cup Football Tournament 2020 here in Pokhara on Tuesday. Organizing a press meet, SCP chairman Keshab Bahadur Thapa informed that the preparation of the tournament is all completed.

A total of 10 teams are going to compete for the title in Pokhara Stadium which is now being under-constructed. As per the fixture, organizer SCP will take on Brigade Boys Club on March 5. The tournament ends on March 14.

Similarly, Nepal Police Club, Gantok City Club India, Three Star Club, Manang Marsyangdi Club, Nepal APF Club, Jhapa 11 Football Club, Sankata Club and Tribhuvan Army Club also are the participants of the tournament.

The champions will take home one million and one rupees, while the runners-up will bag Rs 500,001, informed SCP general secretary Ramji Prasad Adhikari. The top two teams had received Rs 800,001 and Rs 400,001 in the previous edition. The best player of the tournament will receive Aprilia scooter, while the best five individuals in their respective positions will get trophy and cash prizes.

Man of the match in every game will get Rs 5,000. Sahara UK has sponsored the trophies to the best individuals and cash prizes for man of the match. Sahara Club will also felicitate footballer Sujal Shrestha with the best national player award at the opening ceremony. The player will receive felicitation letter along with Rs 35,000 sponsored by Khem Bahadur Gurung, the former president of Kaski District Football Association. Sahara UK and Sahara HK also have supported for the tournament.

Himshree Foods Executive Chairman and Lawmaker Surya Bahadur KC, Sahara UK vice chairman Kushang Gurung, Sahara Club Pokhara vice chairman Hareram Gurung also put their views during the press meet. SCP also disclosed the ticket prize of the tournament. As per the information, audience should pay Rs 100 for pre-quarter finals, Rs 150 for quarter finals, Rs 200 for semifinals and Rs 250 for final match ticket.

Aaha and Rara noodles of Himshree Foods Pvt Ltd are the main sponsors of the tournament, while Hima- Aus Consultancy, Prithivi Highway Bus Operators Company, Royal Enfield and Sunrise Driving School are the co-sponsors and supporters.

The club also has been running Sahara Academy in Pokhara- 17 of Dobilla for years. The academy has 24 teenager boys from 15 districts. The academy bares the education, health and football training expenses of the boys.
