CM smart village program inaugurated in Gandaki

By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara—The Gandaki Province Government has announced the Chief Minister Smart Village program that adopts the concept of Eco-friendly model agriculture village. Gandaki Province CM Prithvi Subba Gurung inaugurated that program at Pathardi of Bhimad Municipality- 9 of Tanahun district on Sunday.

Addressing the program, CM Gurung said that the main motive of that program is the alleviation of the poverty through agriculture. He further hoped that the smart village program would be helpful to uplift the living standard of the people in the villages.

The province government under the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture & Co-operative is going to implement the smart village program in 36 villages which have been chosen in such a way that at least a village is mandatory from a constituency of 36 such constituencies of 11 districts of Gandaki Province.

As per the program a committee would be formed in every 36 villages and the respective ward office would co-operate with the committee. Various sub groups can also be formed under that committee. According to plan, every village will receive Rs 3 million support for a year. Then next year, such amount would be half of that. For every committee, experts and technical persons will be provided by the government.

Government representatives will learn the wish of the villagers as per the geography and climate of the villages. Village groups can start the farming of ginger, orange, goat taming, technology base program and other agro based program under this CM Smart Village. The part of technology and sanitation also are in focus in this program which will promote the harmony among the villagers.

Gandaki Province speaker Netranath Adhikari, finance Minister Kiran Gurung, home minister Hari Bahadur Chuman, agriculture minister Lekh Bahadur Thapa, main opposition Nepali Congress leader Krishna Chandra Nepali and agriculture ministry secretary Sharad Chandra Shrestha put their views during the program chaired by Bhimad Municipality Mayor Mekh Bahadur Thapa. Dozens of cultural tableau were carried out during the opening of the program. Kaura Dance of Magar community was also performed during that moment.
