By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Baglung—A beautiful village Shivadhuri at Bihunkot in Nepal’s Baglung district is all set to welcome domestic and foreign tourists following the opening of homestay facilities. The Village Toruism Promotion Forum (VTOF) Nepal and its Gandaki Province chapter as well as the Shivadhuri Community Homestay including Kathekhola Rural Municipality- 4 and 5 jointly came up with this concept of homestay that was formally inaugurated by Gandaki Province Industry, Toruism, Forest and Environment minister Bikash Lamsal amid a formal ceremony organized on January 26, 2019.
Addressing the ceremony, minister Lamsal said that the newly opened homestay in Bihun would be helpful in fulfilling the government’s target of 2 million tourists in 2020. He also stressed on the need of nature and culture utilization to make the nation prosperous. At the same time, he reminded that Gandaki Province government has allocated Rs 300 million to develop 300 homestays in that province. Similarly, VTOF Nepal’s chairman Dhurba Simkhada informed about the homestay rule and regulations in the program. Meanwhile. VTOF Nepal Gandaki Province chairman Rabindra Raj Paudel said that the newly opened homestay at Shivadhuri would be effective as province government is focusing on homestay tourism in recent time.
According to Shivadhuri Community Homestay’s Prem Bahadur Sirish, they have a capacity of 70 beds in 12 homestays which also provide organic foods to their guests. Gandaki Province assembly member Indra Lal Sapkota, Baglung Municipality Mayor Janak Raj Paudel, Baglung Chief District Officer Bedprasad Kharel, Kathekhola Rural Municipality chairman Amar Bahadur Thapa, tourism ministry’s former secretary Sureshman Shrestha, VTOF Nepal former advisor Professor Dr. Prem Sharma, VTOF Nepal Gandaki’s former chairman Chitra Gurung, Kathekhola Rural Municipality- 5 chairman Shiva Prasad Kadel, TAAN central member Rajan Prasad Kapri including others put their views during the opening ceremony.
Tripureshowr Mahadev Temple, Shvadhuri Dham which is famous for rhododendron and magnificent view of Annapurna range, number of shrines, forests and green hills are the attractions of this area. Shivadhuri is situated some 94 Km northeast from Pokhara. The place is situated around 1800 meters of elevation from sea level and has enjoyed the snowfall after 12 years this time. From Shivadhuri, Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve is 60 Km far and tourists can go Dhorpatan travelling Mid-hill Highway via Burtibang.
