By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Sauraha (Chitwan)– The 20th Pokhara Street Festival (PSF) promotional journey  in Silver Triangle has been concluded on December 19. The journey began from Pokhara on 17th of December and went through Waling, Palpa, Butwal, Nawalpur and Sauraha before ending again in Pokhara where the festival is going to be organized from 28 December 2018 to 1st January 2019.

The Restaurant and Bar Association Nepal (REBAN) Pokhara is doing its preparation to organize this festival that will be expanded in 3.5 Km distance of Lakeside in the shore of Beautiful Phewa Lake, the second largest lake of Nepal. During the press meets organized while in the journey, REBAN Pokhara former chairman and promotional team’s coordinator Surya Bahadur Bhujel requested all the enthusiasts to visit the PSF which he claimed is a biggest and longest festival of Nepal. He further informed that the festival had been started as a REBAN Street Festival which, in 2007, was turned into PSF that will be organized as Nepal Carnival in upcoming  years.

According to Bhujel, 5 to 7 million visitors have been expected in five-day long festival that also offers 15 percent discount in REBAN restaurants’ menus. In a press meet organized at Waling Chamber of Commerce and Industry, its chairman Sobhakanta Paudel proposed for the coordination between Pokhara and Syangja entrepreneurs for the development and promotion of the tourism of both destinations. REBAN central vice chairman Chau Bahadur Gurung said that the trend of reaching tourists to Pokhara to celebrate New Year has soared up in recent years.

Similarly, speaking in program organized at Palpa, Palpa Chamber of Commerce and Industry vice chairman Sailendra Bhattarai said more numbers of tourists can visit Pokhara and Palpa if the Siddhartha Highway is upgraded. Nawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Dasu Raj Pokhrel and REBAN Sauraha chairman Gokarna Giri also wished for the success of PSF.

Pokhara Tourism Council chairman Chirinjibi Pokhrel, NATTA Pokhara former chairman Om Pandey, NATTA Pokhara vice chairman Sanjay Kanta Sigdel, TAAN WRA Pokhara vice chairman Sushil Raj Paudel, REBAN former general secretary Sriram Giri, member duo Basanta Gautam and Dil Shrestha including journalists were in the promotional team.

According to REBAN Pokhara general secretary Ganesh Bahadur Thapa, boat race, waiter race, pop concerts, duet folk songs, food stalls, cultural dances from Nepal and overseas are some of the key attractions of the festival. Different committees coordinated by REBAN Pokhara Chairman Budha raj Bhuel have been formed to organized the festival.
