First Nepal Paragliding Accuracy World Cup 2018 begins

Pokhara—The first Nepal Paragliding Accuracy World Cup 2018 has been officially kicked off at Sworek of Bhirkot Municipality- 5 in Syangja district of Nepal on Thursday. Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat BK inaugurated the championship amid a formal ceremony.

A total of 121 players from 20 countries including Nepal, India, Pakistan, Japan, China, Korea, US, Canada are taking part in the championship. Nepal Paragliding Association, Nepal Air Sports Association and Babu Adventure Club Syangja in association of District Coordination Committee Syangja are organizing this championship.

Sworek is situated at an elevation of 1577 meter from sea level and the championship will be ended on 4th of November at Dauwa Phant (800 m) of Waling Municipality- 11. Nepal Sports Council, Nepal Olympic Committee and 11 local levels of Syangja districts supporting the championship following the approval of the Federation Aeronautic International under World Air Sports Federation and Paragliding Accuracy World Cup.

According to organizers, the championship would be helpful in boosting the air sports and tourism related activities in Gandaki Province. The championship also would help in the development of paragliding game and the pride of Nepal. The paragliding had gave Nepal a silver medal in recent Asiad held in Indonesia.
