Two alleged gamblers killed during police raid in Kathmandu

Kathmandu—Two alleged gamblers were killed when they jumped off a house-top during a police raid at Mulpani in Kathmandu last night.

The incident occurred as a police team led by Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu DSP Hobindra Bogati reached that house which had been using as a gambling house. Two gamblers leaped from the third floor of the house as that police team in civil dress entered the house, breaking the channel gate’s padlock.

Deceased have been identified as Saroj Ghale and Somlal Tamang who succumbed to injury in B and B hospital, MPR chief SSP Basanta Lama informed. A total of 23 persons including a woman were arrested during the police operation happened at around 10 pm.

Police also seized Rs 458,000 including some cowries and a car and 10 motorcycles from the gambling point. Tamang and Ghale jumped off the top as police entered the house breaking the padlock in dark night. According to information the house was a VIP gambling house where liquor including foods used to be served during the pay time.
