Resignation of Home Minister, IGP sought

Pokhara—Justice for Nirmala group has demanded the resignation of Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal, citing that he is fail in maintaining the law and order in the nation, in Kathamndu on Thursday.

The group members chanted the slogans to punish the then Kanchanpur SP Dilli Raj Bista, accusing him of eliminating the proof of Nirmala murder case. The group was rallying in front of the southern gate of Singha Durbar which is a restricted area. The sit-in carried out as police failed to arrest the real perpetrator of Nirmala Panta, who was raped and found dead nearby her home on July 27, 2018 and was missing since July 26 right in Kanchanpur.

Similarly, the student wings of ruling parties also submitted a memorandum to Home Minister Thapa, urging the suspending of IGP Sarbendra Khanal. All Nepal Student Union’s president Nabina Lama and ANSU Revolutionary chairman Ranjit Tamang submitted that memorandum to HM. They also urged to make public the probe report on Nirmala murder case and to book the real culprit within a week.

Moreover, according to them, they demand the resignation of Home Minister if he fails to fulfill their demands with in a stipulated time frame. It has been accused that Khanal’s poor performance is responsible behind the numbers of recent rape, murder and women violence cases. Similarly, police itself is botching up the proofs and failed to nab the culprits are also the accusation over the police.
