Call to pay tax for prosperous Nepal

Pokhara—Inland Revenue Office Pokhara Chief Tax Officer Keshav Kumar Upreti said that paying tax is the responsibility of citizens and asked all the entrepreneurs to pay tax for the prosperity of the nation.

Addressing an interaction and tax education program organized by Paschimanchal Hotel Association Pokhara (PHAP) and supported by IRD Pokhara, Upreti requested all the entrepreneurs not to feel bad if any IRD team reaches their firm and wishes to go through any log. According to Upreti, transaction without billing is one of the key challenges of Nepali economy and the market. ‘When there is tax evasion, this hampers the national budget and finally the prosperity of the nation,’ Upreti added.

PHAP executives, general members and staffers from hotel sector took part in the interaction. IRD Pokhara tax officer Bijay Prasad Lamichhane spoke about value added tax and permanent account number through PowerPoint presentation. He asked all the entrepreneurs to pay tax in time. Lamichhane also asked all the tax payers to maintain appropriate logs regarding VAT and PAN.

PHAP Chairman Bikal Tulachan said that the program was organized to aware about VAT and tax to the entrepreneurs and staffers. PHAP immediate past president Bharat Raj Parajuli thanked all the participants and IRD officials in the program hosted by PHAP General Secretary Ganesh Raj Pahari.
