Birethanti to hold canyoining championship from April 12

By Rup Narayan Dhakal: Pokhara— Birethanti Canyoning Restaurant and Bar (BCRB) in cooperation with Pokhara Canyoning Pvt. Ltd. is going to organize a 3-day long canyoning championship from April 12, 2018 at Birethanti of Annapurna Rural Municipality- 8 in Nepal’s Kaski district.

According to one of the owners of BCRC Suresh Gurung, some 50 canyoning guides from across the Nepal will take part in the championship coordinated by Purna Koney Gurung. Canyoning in Birethanti has come into operation some six months ago in 50 meter tall water fall. Co-organizer Pokhara Canyoning Managing Director Ram Gurung said that the championship would help to promote the adventure sports tourism in domestic and international market. He also urged the government to forge clear policy about canyoning and to provide valid license to the guides of this game.

The championship would be followed by pop concerts, pool dance party and cultural shows including Panche Baza. Democratic Sports Association Chairman Devendra Shrechan vowed that he would try to make this sport more professional and will take initiation to provide government license to canyoning guides who have been serving without any valid government reorganization in Nepal now.

The winner will bag Rs 30,000, first runner up Rs 20,000 and second runner up Rs 10,000 as prize in the championship sponsored by Chin Bahadur Pyari Foundation. A total of 0.5 million budget announced for the championship during a press meet organized in Pokhara on Tuesday.
