At least 49 persons killed when a US-Bangla aircraft crashed in Tribhuvan International Airport

By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara–At least 49 persons have been killed in spot and 21 other injured when a Bombardier Dash 8Q-400 aircraft of US-Bangla Airlines crashed in Tribhuvan International airport this afternoon. 31 passengers have been rescued from the incident site

Preliminary report says that 33 of total passengers were Nepali and 19 of the Nepali were from travel agencies of Nepal. They had reached Bangladesh to take part in a training program. Likewise, 19 of the Nepali were students from a college of Bangladesh.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and Defense Minister Ishwor Pokhrel reached to the incident site to observe the situation. PM Oli pledged treatment of injured and added that a commission would be form to probe the incident.

30 passengers were rushed to KMC for treatment but eight of them were pronounced dead by doctors. Other injured are being treated at Norvic Hospital and Grandy Hospital of Kathmandu.

The plane crashed when it was landing at TIA. The plane was taken off from Dhaka of Bangladesh. According to TIA Spokesperson Prem Nath Thakur, a total of 71 persons including 4 crew members were on board.  37  male, 28 female and 2  children were among the passengers. The incident occurred as the 17-year old plane skidded off the airport when it was landing, informed  Rajkumar Chhetri, Director General of TIA.
