Srijana Sharma elected vice speaker of Province 4

Pokhara—Province 4 assembly member from CPN-UML has been elected as vice speaker of this province today. Sharma garnered 38 votes while her rival candidate from Nepali Congress Man Kumari Gurung 18 votes.

Sharma is a Province Committee member and Akhil Nepal Mahil Sangh central committee Secretary of her party. Sharma was proposed by CPN-UML Maya Nath Adhikari and seconded by CPN-MC Chief whip Gayetri Gurung. Few days ago, Netra Nath Adhikari from CPN-Maoist was elected as a Speaker of Province 4. As per the constitution province, if speaker is elected from one party, vice speaker should be elected from another Party. Similarly, if one is male, another should be female.

CPN-UML Province assembly members Mitra Kumari Subedi and Nar Devi Pun were also the aspirants of vice speaker but their party recommended Sharma as a candidate for that post. There are 27 assembly members from CPN-UML, 15 from Nepali Congress, 12 from CPN-MC, 3 from Janamorcha and 2 from Naya Shakti Nepal in Province 4. At the same time, Krishni Tharu has been elected as vice speaker of Province 5 today.
