Damodar Budha Magar wins Armala mountain race

Pokhara—Siblings from Nepal’s Pyuthan district dominated mountain marathon held in Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City- 16 on Monday. Damodar Budha Magar from Pyuthan crossed the fixed 10 km distance in 44 minutes and 21 seconds.

Similarly, Ramesh Makrati of Nepal Army became second while Rup Lal Budha Magar from Pyuthan secured third position in the race that began from Batulechaur of Pokhara. Makrati crossed the stipulated distance in 45 minutes and 21 seconds while Rup Lal in 45 minutes and 54.

Damodar, Ramesh and Rup received Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively as prize. Subhas Karki and Bishnu Kumar Tamang secured fourth and fifth position respectively in the race that was organized by Durga Youth Club Armala. They got Rs 1,500 each.

A total of 75 athletes took part in the race. Lalita Lamichhane, Susmita Bhattarai and Sindhu Adhikari became first, second and third respectively in separate assessment of women category. The race was opened by ex-volleyball player Uday Bahadur Basnet.
