Volleyball training center, media center inaugurated in Pokhara Stadium

Pokhara—A volleyball training center including a media center have came into operation at the premises of Pokhara Stadium in Pokhara on Monday. National Sports Council member secretary Keshav Kumar Bista inaugurated those centers amid a formal ceremony. Volleyball training center was built with an investment of Rs 9.4 million while media center in Rs 1.9 million.

The media center has 10 computers, two laptops, printer, photocopy machine and high-speed broadband internet service. Pokhara is going to host some of the games of 13th South Asian Game will be held in 2019 and the center would be useful for the journalists who wish to report directly from stadium.

Member secretary Bista informed that the Pokhara Stadium would be upgraded as an international level stadium within 1.5 years. A football stadium with modern facilities is going to be constructed with an investment of Rs 1 billion. Similarly, a tender also will be called within few days to build a dome covered hall in Pokhara Stadium. The covered hall would be built with an investment of Rs 110 million in six months of period. With an investment of Rs 140 million, a multipurpose building is being built in Pokhara Stadium premises.

Sports minister’s advisor Bijay Basnet said that they are trying to host six games in Pokhara under 13th SAG in 2019. He further added that the ministry is committed to manage adequate budget for that games. At the same time, Western Regional Sports Development Committee chairman Khagraj Paudel said that the infrastructures are being built in Pokhara Stadium to turn Pokhara as a sports capital of Nepal.
