Pokhara—Issuing a stay order, Supreme Court of Nepal has directed the government to resume the duty of suspended Chief Justice Sushila Karki today.
The court also had ordered the government to idle the impeachment motion registered and tabled in the parliament against CJ Karki on April 30. CJ Karki was automatically suspended following the filing of motion by 249 lawmakers of ruling Nepali Congress and CPN-MC.
The single bench of Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR issued the above mention order on the case of impeachment saying that the motion doesn’t follow the spirit of constitution of Nepal.
Advocate duos Sunil Ranjan Singh and Kanchan Krishna Neupane had filed a writ petition against the impeachment motion on May 1. The Legislature-Parliament meeting was deferred till Sunday 1 pm after the CPN-UML lawmakers strongly protested to the impeachment motion today.
CJ Karki was accused of breaching jurisdiction of the Executive while giving verdict on IGP-appointment case on April 30.
