Punhill Club claims volleyball title

Pokhara: Punhill Club has clinched the title of First Abhiyan Men’s Volleyball Tournament 2073 in Pokhara on Saturday. Beating Pokhara Club in final, Abhiyan Club also got Rs 50,555 as cash prize. Likewise runner up Pokhara Club bagged Rs 30,555.

Abhiyan beat Pokhara in a straight sets of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-14. Earlier, Punhill thrashed Barahi Secondary School and Pokhara beat Pokhara Bahumukhi Campus to advance in semifinals of the tournament that held in the Malepatan Play Ground, informed tournament coordinator Jaya Prakash Thapa.

Armed Police Force received the prize of disciplined team and Youba Raj Bhandari of Pokhara Club bagged the trophy of best defender. Pokhara Club’s Pritam Malla received the title of best spiker. Punhill’s Bishnu Chhetri in best blocker, Arjun Malla of Punhill in Best Server and Pradin Gurung of same club in best lifter also got their respective prizes. Mahesh Khadka of same club was recognized as best player.

Chairman Dr. Bharat Khatri, social worker Ujjwal Khatri, journalist Yagya Prasad Bastola, civic right activist Anju KC, Surya Chandra Bikash Samaj Chairman Ankit Baral and Abhiyan Club’s Srijana Baral expressed their remarks during the concluding ceremony chaired by organizer AbhiyanYouth Club Chairman Mohan Bahadur KC.
