Shoes thrown at Baburam Bhattarai in Pokhara

Dr. Baburam Bhattarai—Pokhara: A student from Prithvi Narayan Campus Pokhara hurled a shoe at Naya Shakti Nepal (NSN) coordinator Dr. Baburam Bhattarai this morning.

Bhattarai had to face shoe during a welcome program for newly admitted students, organized by Naya Shakti Student Union (NSSU) in campus premises. Sanjiv Bhattarai 29 from Nawalpur of Kailali district who is the student of masters level in that college threw a shoe at Bhattarai. Sanjiv first showed black flag to Bhattarai and pelted the shoe when he was delivering his speech; but the shoe didn’t touch to Bhattarai.

Sanjiv first chanted slogans and showed black flag against Bhattarai from the backstage and later threw shoe at him. At first, Bhattarai asked his students not to do anything to Sanjiv as he was chanting down with Bhattarai but Sanjiv was taken control and beaten by the members of NSSU  as he threw a shoe at Bhattrai; and he was submitted to police later. The investigation over the incident is undergoing, informed SP Ghanashyam Aryal of District Police Office Kaski.

Sanjiv told to police that the he pelted shoe to Bhattarai as he was frustrated by the behaviors of major political leaders of Nepal. He also disclosed that he is planning to throw shoes to PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal, CPN-UML president KP Sharma Oli, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML leader and former PM Madhav Kumar Nepal.
