Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: Despite continued search operation, the whereabouts of missing Israeli trekker Amit Reichman is still unknown, informed District Police Office Kaski.
According to DPO Kaski spokesperson DSP Gaju Siddhi Bajracharya, 42-year old Reichman who was trekking Mardi Himal Trek of Mid-Nepal went missing since October 16. Nepal Police personnel, local people and Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) representative have launched search operation in that route areas.
According to DPO Kaski SP Ghanashyam Arayal, he remained out of contact as he reached to Mardi Base Camp. According to information, he was hiking alone with a small sack putting his luggage in the hotel room.
Reichman who is claimed to be an experience trekker, is the father of two and is an engineer at Israel Aerospace Industries. According to a travel agent, Reichman was travelling with his wife in Nepal before leaving for Mardi Trek. His wife had to returned back to Israel due to lack of time but her husband left for trekking and wanted to finish five day long Mardi Trek within 3 nights.
According to Nepal Tourism Board, Reichman began that trek on October 14. On October 15 apparently he slept in middle camp and continued in the morning of October 16, reached high camp, left behind a small bag of clothes in the Fish Tail guesthouse and apparently continued toward the base camp. It is unknown if he walked to the south base camp or to the west base camp.
NTB adds, since then, we don’t know anything about him. Someone said that two Germans told that they saw him on the path in October 16. We are looking for the Germans and other travelers on their way to base camp and may have a guide or porter saw it.
He has gray backpack and a blue jacket. Maybe we can know the names of the people by the permit received in Pokhara or in Kathmandu. Is it possible that he continue after the west base camp to Annapurna base camp? He hiked alone without guide or porter.Few day ago, in the high camp there was an Israeli rescue team searching for him.
