Vetrans Basketball Tournament begins in Pokhara

This league cum knowckout tournament is being organized by Kaski District Basketball Association (KDBA) and sponsored by Pathibhara Oversease Pvt. Ltd. KDBA thrashed Syangja District Basketball Association 38-36 in opening match held in the basketball court of Pokhara Stadium today.

Likewise, Kathmandu District Basketball Association defeated Parvat District Basketball Association 54-27 in second match. In third match, Kritipur Basketball Association outplayed Tanahun District Basketball Association 40-21 and the Pun Samaj Kaski beat Paschimanchal Bhupu Sainik Khelkud Association 69-38 in fourth match.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Nepal Olympic Committee president Jivan Ram Shrestha. Western Regional Sports Development Committee President Khaga Raj Paudel also expressed his views during the opening ceremony chaired by KDBA president Netra Bahadur Sen.

All total 8 teams are taking part in the tournament that would be concluded on on October 22. Winner team will bag Rs 40,444 and runner up will get Rs 25,555 including trophy, medal and certificates, informed tournament coordinator Narayan Sharma.
