WRC Pokhara students make solar car

Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: Students from Western Regional Campu (WRC) Lamachaur made a solar hybrid car that they displayed in Pokhara City Hall on Friday.

The fourth year students of mechanical department of WRC assembled a solar fueling car. Student Sagar Adhikar said his team made that environment friendly car to get rid of fuel crunch.

The car with 4 batteries of 100 watt with 12 volt, 150 watt’s 2 solar panels, and DC motor of 9 watt- was prepared in 0.3 million rupees cost. Another student Krishna Timilsina informed that the car could be fully charged within 7 hours and also could be charged from electricity line. The car with 4 seats including for driver, was prepared within 1.5 year.

The car has six hours of battery backup and the car can run 30 km/h of speed.  The scraped parts of old vehicles have been used to build that car that weighs 500 kg.

8 Students- Prayas Rijal, Dipesh Karki, Khagendra Karki, Rajan Khanal, Saugat Koirala, Sagar Adhikari, Krishna Timilsina and Sumit Dhakal built that car. They also claimed that they can build deluxe car in 0.8 million rupees if the government help them.
