Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: Pokhara based photo journalists Friday urged for their life insurance as their profession is one of the risky ones.
Talking in an interaction organized to mark the 177th World Photography Day (WPD) in Pokhara, journalists asked the government to make a provision of life insurance of photo journalists. Photo journalists said that is ironic not to cover photo journalists in insurance plans like their cameras.
The importance and challenge of photography was discussed during the interaction organized by National Forum for Photo Journalists (NFPJ) Kaski chapter. Journalists also discussed that the problem can’t solve when media houses and readers take photography as an easy profession.
Talking in the interaction, Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Kaski chapter president Ram Krishan Gnwali said that the problem is there when media owners don’t understand the importance of photography though they have invested millions in media sector.
The WPD has been marking since 1839 in the world but in Nepal, it has been marking since 1984, informed program coordinator and NFPJ Kaski vice chairman Indra Poudel
