Hemjakot village offers typical home-stay service

Recentfusion.com–Pokhara: A beautiful village Hemjakot lies in the northern part of Pokhara offers a very memorable home-stay service without charging 2000 Nepali rupees as Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) entry fees to tourists who can enjoy the fascinating beauty of Annapurna Region even from this village.

This village is out of ACAP but is a neighboring part of this project area. Tourists need not to pay 2000 rupees to this project as entry fees. The village has been offering home-stay service since June 3 of 2010. Local entrepreneur Mr. Kumar Gurung informed that the most of the houses from Dhital Village Development Committee where Hemjakot situates offer home stay service.

Guests can go to Hemjakot and can choose a house whichever they like to live in. Otherwise, trekking or travel agencies from Pokhara are ready to manage a home-stay trip to Hemjakot for their guests. A mother group member Mrs. Parvati Gurung from Hemjakot said that the villagers welcome their guests as a typical way offering Bhangra and different kinds of flowers. Villagers also organize a cultural program for the sake of guests’ entertainment in the evening before leaving for bed.

Mother group, youth club and other villagers also join such kind of program. Most of the occupants are Gurung in Hemjakot’s 72 households. A local teacher and home-stay organizer Mrs. Uma Devi Gurung said that she also served organic cuisine as per the choice of guests in her house. Locally brewed millet liquor and rooster’s meat also are available in Hemjakot. Every household has common toilet and the village is rich for typical Gurung houses.

Far from 15 kilometers, Hemjakot is a perfect location to witness the majestic mountain views of Annapurna Range. Flora and fauna and some herbs also can be found in Hemjakot. Recently, the most of the households of Dhital Village Development Committee (VDC) offer the home-stay service, informed Chitra Singh Gurung, a local social worker.

Dhital VDC and Hemjakot village lies on the rout of recently explored Machhapuchhre Model Trek. Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) Western Regional Association Pokhara had launched a home-stay service in Hemjakot during Mt. Annapurna day of 2010. Hemjakot can be reached following an off-road starts from Bhupi Serchan Highway aka Pokhara-Baglung highway.
