Prime Minister Prachanda quits

Pokhara: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda announced his resignation on Monday.

Citing that the civilian supremacy is under threat as President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav sent a letter to Maoist sacked Chief of Army Staff Rookmangud Katwal ordering latter to fulfill his existing duty, Dahal who is also a chairman of Unified CPN-Maoist, quit his post.

Meeting of Council of Minister yesterday had appointed the Kul Bahadur Khadka as a new CoAS, sacking the Katwal who accusingly disobeyed the government's orders time to time. In his live speech telecasted from leading electronic media of Nepal, Prachanda asked the President Yadav not to have executive rights like elected Prime Minister.

"I am ready to give up the PM's chair for civilian supremacy," Prachanda said in his address, days to have a chair from the support of foreign powers have gone. He also pledged for the logical conclusion of peace process, constitution building and press freedom. Prachanda said that there is now a situation of dual government so he quit to break the deadlock.
