AFP Club wins Pokhara Cup opening match

Pokhara—Armed Police Force’s APF club thrashed Himalayan Sherpa Club 2-1 in Manakamana Cable Car Pokhara Cup Football Tournament in Pokhara on Tuesday. APF’s Aashish Lama and captain Sudeep Shikhrakar contributed 1 goal each while Himalayan’s Sherpa’s Amar Dangol scored 1 goal in the opening tournament organized by All Nepal Football Association Kaski. Pokhara Metropolitan Mayor Man Bahadur GC inaugurated the tournament at Pokhara Stadium.

Lama scored first goal in 26th minute but Dangol leveled the score in 54 minute. At last, APF’s Sudeep made winning goal in 78 minute. APF was awarded the opportunity of penalty shootout as rival team player Ulrich Siwie made fowl in D area. APF’s Lama also got the prize of man of the match. Chyasal Youth Club will take on Dafins Family Club Cameroon tomorrow.

APF head coach Rajendra Tamang expressed his happiness that his boys played well and won the match. At the same time, Himalayan Sherpa’s manager Bijendra Pudasaini said that his players failed to coordinate and utilize the opportunities. A total of 12 teams including Nepal’s 10, two from Japan and Cameroon are taking part in the tournament. Winner team will bag Rs 755,000 while runner up will receive Rs 405,000.
